About The Weigels

Joshua and Rebekah Weigel are award-winning filmmakers and the founders of Peacetree Productions, a company dedicated to creating spiritually significant films that highlight urgent social issues. Joshua began his career on national commercials for brands such as Disney and McDonald’s. Rebekah, a writer and producer with a background in psychology, has dedicated her life to working with organizations that support vulnerable children and families. The two collaborated on The Butterfly Circus, an internationally acclaimed short film that won over 35 festival awards and became a viral sensation. The Weigels went on to co-write and produce Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, based on the true story of 22 families in rural Texas who adopted 77 children from the foster care system. As adoptive parents themselves, they were deeply moved by the story and relocated from Los Angeles to Texas to bring the film to life.

FRIDAY NIGHT FEATURE

Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot

Friday, October 24, 2025
6:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Location: Belóved Cafe Patio
Paid Event. Tickets Required.
On October 24th, you are invited to Friday night feature Sound of Hope, an exclusive reception and screening of Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot. The film is based on the incredible true story of 22 brave families from one church in rural Texas who opened their hearts and homes to adopt 77 children from foster care. Distributed by Angel Studios, Sound of Hope has won several awards and ignited a new passion for caring for our nation’s youth.

Engage in a rare in-person Q&A with film directors Joshua and Rebekah Weigel following the screening. This year’s Fall Affair theme, Commissioned: Sharing Faith Through Art, couldn’t be more perfect for the Weigels—their journey as adoptive parents and their films center on hope, resilience, and faith. As film industry pros and passionate storytellers, they create films that shine a spotlight on urgent social issues while standing firm in the calling God has given them.
Join us as we reflect on what it means to be commissioned by God—not just in art, but in action. Tickets are $10, and seating is limited.

Please note: This film contains mature themes and is recommended for ages 13 and up.
